Revenge nude porn strikes out Jacque Jones

Former San Diego High and Major League Baseball standout, and San Pasqual Valley resident, Jacque Jones discovered a pitch he couldn’t beat when he struck out on a charge of posting revenge nude photos of an ex-girlfriend.

Jones was alleged to have distributed multiple photos of the woman following an argument over a sweatshirt. A 12-member jury trial Feb. 19-23 mainly focused on one nude photo that Jones sent to his special Escondido female friend.

The verdict stemmed from a lawsuit filed two years ago in which a woman going by Jane Doe said Jones sent a photo of her naked breasts to a mutual friend using Facebook messenger. Jones admitted to posting the photo.

Trial observers said he looked defiant and angry during the trial and his testimony. They said he did nothing but blame the victim.

Doe was awarded about $67,000 in damages. The jury awarded the woman $19,000 for past medical treatment, $6,000 for future medical treatment, $26,452 for loss of past earnings and $15,000 for non-economic damages, according to the verdict form.

On top of the award to Jane Doe, Jones also could have to repay in excess of $500,000 in attorney fees.

According to Deadspin’s report, Jones’s defense wasn’t that he didn’t send the photos. Jones’ lawyer, Howard E. King Jr., instead attempted to downplay the incident while also attempting to discredit the character of the alleged victim. Jane Doe’s legal called the strategy “character assassination.”

“Mr. Jones feels vindicated with the jury verdict,” said Jones’ attorney Howard King Jr. “The plaintiff sought damages of $2.8 million. The plaintiff greatly overreached.”

NBC 7 spoke to the woman, who still wished to remain anonymous. Her statement was brief, “Trust no one.”

In the lawsuit, according to Deadspin, which covered the case in great detail, Doe said she and Jones began “an intimate and sexual relationship” in January 2017, seeing each other on and off. During a stretch of time away from each other, Jones asked Doe to send a photo of her breasts, which she did.

“Even though her face was cut out of the photo,” the lawsuit said, “The photo includes things that make her identifiable in the photo.”

In August 2017, Jones and Doe got into an argument when Jones traveled to San Diego with the Nationals. Jones wanted to give Doe’s father a sweatshirt, but Doe didn’t go to the hotel where he had left it for her to pick up. They bickered over messages.

Five days later, Doe said she gave two Nationals hats to “a mutual male friend,” Bryan Wolf, who then posted a photo of the hats on Facebook with the caption, “Got these Fresh Hats from the homegirl. Thank you [Jane Doe].”

That led Jones to send Wolf multiple photos of items he got from Doe—clothes, shoes, facial products, and the photo of Doe’s naked breasts. He wrote to Wolfe, “Ask ya homegirl if she wants these back? I see your post and she’s on some bull shit.”
